After years of hard work and fundraising, we were finally able to dedicate and re-open our second location, The Leadership and Legacy Center, on Wednesday. Our President and CEO, Barato Britt, said, "It's been six years of blood, sweat, tears, and commitment". But in just two short weeks, the Leadership and Legacy Center will be fully operational, giving us the room we need to grow and providing the community with a larger preschool, a dedicated space for seniors, and a business center that will focus on young entrepreneurs.

We were so happy to have so many members of our community along with 7th District Representative André Carson and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett join us to celebrate. Mayor Hogsett said, “True prosperity should lift every neighborhood in Indianapolis and every resident of Indianapolis, which means that every neighborhood must have access to the right tools to achieve that level of equitable success and prosperity.” We know that the Leadership and Legacy Center will further provide our community with the tools they need to succeed.

The opening of the Leadership and Legacy Center would not have been possible without the support of our community. Edna Martin Christian Center would like to thank American Baptist Churches, the City of Indianapolis, EPA, Shepherd Community Center, United Way Capital Fund, Dexter & Rosemary Cooley, Ruth Lilly Philanthropic Foundation, Gannett Foundation, the Federal Office of Community Services, and many individuals and businesses for funding the project.
