Your glory does not come from the ballot box but from God. Your honor does not come from voting but from God. That said, your glory and honor, and that of your neighbor, can be protected or jeopardize by the choices made when ballots are cast.

We are weary. Fatigue has taken its toll. Our national anxiety has been at its highest since September 11, 2001. We’ve been told excessively to render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Our productivity, which for many has shifted from field or factory to the living room or den, is never quite enough.

To borrow from the Apostle Peter in his first letter to Christians in several Roman provinces, Lewis operated in holiness, humility, and with what the Apostle Peter would call “a living hope” in the midst of suffering and trials and being “tested by fire” (1 Peter 1:3-7).
