Krystal Maldonado, 2019 summer intern at the Somerset Academy Early Learning Center/Freedom School
Krystal Maldonado, a senior student major in Psychology and Social Science at Penn State in Abington performed “The Baton Passes On” which is a closing monologue from the play “The Mountaintop” written by Katori Hall. Krystal chose to perform this monologue because of the inspiring message it passes on about the continuation of empowering the marginalized communities, specifically the African-American community. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the greatest social justice advocates of our time who led the revolution of civil rights which further led to the events and advancements named in the monologue.
