The deed had been done. The tomb sealed up tight.

So what was this emptiness found at first light?

How could this be so? This couldn't be right!

Hadn't Death won when Jesus gave up the fight?

Fast forward ahead two thousand or so years

To where we sit now with our worries and fears.

Despite the grim pall hanging over the land,

Easter still happened, though not like we planned.

It came without baskets! It came without brunch!

It came without flowers, candy, and such!

The church bells are silent. The pews sadly bare,

Yet Easter is with us--our hope and our prayer.

O Death where's your victory? Grave where's your sting?

Easter still happens when we do this one thing.

When you love one another as Christ first loved you,

You make Easter happen. You make Easter true
